The AI Audit Log Field Guide
Help your child check a claim, explain a choice and know when more evidence is needed.
A practical introduction for the adult guiding the learning. Start with something you can observe or check together. A child AI account is not needed.
Six pages · about 63 KB · no email required. Save a copy, then print page 4 for the reusable log.
One claim. A thoughtful check.
- Name the question. What are you trying to find out? Is it a fact, a creative choice or a preference?
- Record the answer or claim. Label actual AI output and paper practice honestly. Adults can write down the child's own words.
- Choose suitable evidence. Observe, measure, try it, or consult an appropriate source. A second AI answer alone does not settle the question.
- Make a warranted judgment. Use the evidence to explain what you would accept, change or investigate next.
A check does not have to find a mistake.
Supported
The evidence supports the factual claim you checked.
Needs changing
The evidence shows what should be corrected.
Not enough evidence
You cannot settle the claim yet. Name what would help.
Not a factual question
Judge a preference or creative suggestion against the purpose and constraints.
Make it usable for your child.
Children can draw, point, dictate, build or write. Keep the check small and meaningful. You do not need to record every minor tool interaction or make the AI wrong.
The guide introduces one thinking routine. Reading, mathematics, knowledge, play, movement and relationships still need their own attention.
Read the adult instructions, try one suitable claim together, then reuse the blank log on page 4.
